Welcome to the Pastel Artist Society on Deviant Art, a gathering of traditional artists here on DA who work and produce work in pastel. We accept all types of pastel works here, whether they are produced in chalk pastel, oil pastel or multimedia works, as long as pastels in some form or another are used on it.

This group's purpose is two-fold. First is to promote the use of pastels as a media for expression. Secondly, it is to provide a forum for people with questions on how to use pastels a resource on techniques for pastel use.

There are two ways to participate in the Pastel Artist Society. You may either join or submit a piece.

To join, send a note to pastelartist, along with a link to three (3) of your pastel pieces. We are attempting to have a juried approach to the work and acceptance into the group. If you are accepted, we will send you a note indicating your acceptance. Once you have been accepted, when you produce a pastel work, place an acknowledgement in your work's description. Or if you prefer, you can put a link to pastelartist in your sig if you are that proud of it!

Submitting a pastel piece involves placing a link to the pastel work in the comments. We will offer criticism on those pieces. We will create a list of these pastel works, available for perusal and create deviation packs of them. Any theme or subject is acceptable. You don't have to be a member of Pastel Artists Society to submit.



The Pastel Artists Society is happy to announce it's first contest. We need an icon, one that captures pastel art's vibrancy of color and depth of expression. Or whatever looks cool.
